LARDIN at Mokindi Quarter 4: From a Long-Standing Community Cry to a Remarkable Achievement

For years, waste management challenges in Quarter 4, Mokindi Isokolo Village, Limbe, remained a pressing concern for the community. What began as a persistent call for intervention from the Chief and residents eventually became a mission of action, determination, and collective responsibility.

On 6–7 October 2026, the Legacy Action and Royal Development Initiatives (LARDIN) took an important step toward addressing these long-standing environmental concerns through a community waste management intervention.

Despite the challenges, delays, and effort required to bring this initiative to fruition, LARDIN remained committed to working toward a cleaner and healthier environment for the people of Mokindi.

This achievement represents more than a cleanup exercise. It reflects what can happen when community concerns receive attention and collective action becomes a shared priority.

A Message from the President and Chief Executive Officer.

In a recorded message, LARDIN’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Geraldine D. Musi, reflects on the Mokindi waste management achievement and shares her expectations for the future of environmental sustainability in the community and beyond.

Her message reinforces an important principle: the cleanup is not the end of the journey; it is the beginning of a greater responsibility.

While immediate interventions are necessary to address existing waste challenges, lasting environmental progress requires sustained community participation, responsible waste disposal, and a commitment to preventing pollution before it occurs.

Beyond the Cleanup: Building a Sustainable Future.

For LARDIN, the true measure of success is not simply the removal of waste but the development of lasting environmental practices that protect communities and future generations.

Following the Mokindi intervention, LARDIN calls for continued commitment to the following priorities:

– Sustainable Waste Management: Promoting practical and consistent approaches to managing household and community waste.

– Responsible Waste Disposal: Encouraging every household and business to dispose of waste properly.

– Community Participation: Strengthening local ownership and encouraging residents to take an active role in keeping their surroundings clean.

– Environmental Education: Increasing awareness of waste management, pollution prevention, and environmental protection.

– Youth Engagement: Empowering young people to become active participants in community cleanliness and environmental sustainability.

– Strategic Partnerships: Maintaining collaboration with local authorities, environmental agencies, businesses, sponsors, and development partners.

– A Healthier Environment: Working toward cleaner, safer, and more dignified communities for present and future generations.

Appreciation and Recognition.

LARDIN extends its sincere appreciation to the Chief and residents of Mokindi Isokolo Village for bringing attention to the community’s waste management challenges and contributing to the collective effort toward a cleaner environment.

We also acknowledge the Limbe City Council, under the leadership of Lord Mayor Dr. Paul Ngale, alongside all individuals and stakeholders whose contributions helped make this intervention possible.

Every effort, whether through cooperation, logistical support, participation, or advocacy, contributes to building stronger and more environmentally responsible communities.

This achievement demonstrates the importance of partnerships between community leaders, residents, civil society organizations, local authorities, and other stakeholders in addressing environmental challenges.

Join LARDIN in Keeping Limbe Clean and Green.

The Mokindi intervention is a reminder that environmental protection requires more than occasional cleanup campaigns. It calls for a lasting shift in attitudes, everyday practices, and collective responsibility.

LARDIN therefore invites government institutions, corporate organizations, sponsors, philanthropists, development partners, and Cameroonians at home and in the diaspora to join hands with us in transforming this achievement into a sustainable environmental movement.

Together, we can strengthen community-based waste management, promote environmental awareness, encourage responsible disposal practices, and support initiatives that protect our natural surroundings.

A clean community is a collective responsibility. A healthy environment is our shared inheritance. And a sustainable future begins with the actions we take today.
